Children between the ages of 4-7 (as of June 1, 2026) are eligible for our Mini Hawk Program. All new Mini Hawks must be evaluated before the first day of practice. Sign up below for an evaluation slot. Reminder that all participants must have a HF pool membership or 2026 summer lease.
Mini Hawks 2026!
The Hayfield Farm Seahawks Swim Team runs a developmental program for aspiring swim team members. The purpose of this program is to grow our swim team. The age range of our Mini Hawks is age 4 by June 1st, with the upper age limit of age 7. Mini Hawks are children who are generally comfortable in the water, but are not quite ready to join the 8 and under age group swimmers. Mini Hawks do not have to purchase the swim team swimsuit. Potential Mini Hawks new to the program must be evaluated prior to registration to assess whether they are ready to join the program. Please remember, if they are not quite ready for Mini Hawks, you can inquire with the front desk about private or group swim lessons.
The goals of the Mini Hawk program are to:
Teach basic swimming strokes - primarily freestyle
Teach skills for competitive swimming (racing starts, swim 25 m length, etc...)
Prepare them to join the Seahawks Swim Team
Have fun!!!!!
At the beginning of the season, the coaches try to place each swimmer with others at a similar ability level so they can be taught most efficiently. The swim groups are intended to be small to maximize learning, hence there are a limited amount of children who can sign up (20 each session).
If a swimmer starts out comfortable in the water, the goal will be to improve his/her stroke skills; if ready, swimmers will be assessed to move up to the main team after demonstrating they can swim one lap across the pool safely.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: June 22 - July 17
There are two Mini Hawk sessions each day:
8:00am - 8:45am
9:00am - 9:45am
We hope our Mini Hawks will improve their swimming skills and hope to help them become comfortable with competitive swimming. Most of all, we hope our Mini Hawks and their families will enjoy being a part of the Hayfield Seahawks Swim Family!

SWIM MEETS/OTHER TEAM EVENTS
The Mini Hawks are encouraged to get involved with the Hayfield Swim and Dive teams as much as possible. The Swim and Dive teams have weekly Pep Rallies on Friday evenings and swim and dive meets throughout the season. We would love to see our Mini Hawks at these events! Each week we will be selecting a Mini Hawk Swimmer of the Week which will be awarded at the weekly Pep Rally.
The Mini Hawks program may include the opportunity to participate in swim meets. The Mini Hawk events are usually scheduled just before the start of select B Meets (B Meets take place on Monday evenings). The Mini Hawk Head Coach and Mini Hawk Representative will let you know when these meets are scheduled. More information on these meets will also be provided by the Mini Hawk Head Coach and Mini Hawk Representative once the season begins.
Below is general information about meets that may be useful:
Mini Hawks swim from one end of the pool to the other – the full 25 meter length
Mini Hawk swimmers can use a kickboard or noodle or swim on their own (based on their preference, skill level and coach input)
